My name is Thijs Meuldijk, I live in Rotterdam and have been drawing for as long as I can remember. Expressing creativity is very important to me, and I would recommend everyone to pick up the pencil and put all visions on paper!
As a child I very often visited museums with my grandmother, who also learned to draw and paint. Through the many visits she also taught me the symbolist values in paintings; that colors can indicate a feeling and that images become different when you learn to look at them from a different perspective.
Besides my PopDraws I also work in various museums in the Netherlands. There I regularly work with great artists and their works, from which I in turn also get a lot of inspiration.
ABOUT THE POPDRAWS
Inspired by the pop art movement from the 60's and 70's of the last century, I started making my PopDraws. The first PopDraw was created on May 5th, 2017.
Some of my role models from the pop art world are the American artists Mel Ramos, Tom Wesselmann and the Dutch neon artist and painter Toni Burgering.
Each PopDraw is drawn on 300 g/m2 fine grain paper and created using Faber-Castell Pitt artist pens with Indian ink.
